<p><b>New page</b></p><div>Ankou is home to a wide variety of species. They are typically divided into two categories: magical and natural. The natural creatures are those who existed on Ankou before the [[Gryphon Mother]]'s arrival, and the magical species are those who were created by her. These labels are based on this historical categorization, rather than the actual amount of [[Magic System|magic]] an individual has. It's entirely possible for a natural species to have magic, or for a magical species to be without. <br />

Near the end of the [[Age of Harmony]], mixed species creatures became a more common occurrence. By the end of the [[Age of Spirits]], the mixed species outweighed those with clear heritage. As such, most of the divisions between species became irrelevant in the latter half of Ankouvian history.<br />
