Ankou's geography consists of one large central continent, with several islands of varying sizes surrounding it. The continent is approximately four thousand miles from end to end. There is a large river running vertically along the western half of the continent, with about a dozen other smaller rivers scattered around. There are three large lakes, the biggest of which has its own island.

Overview

The Beginning

When the Gryphon Mother first arrived on Ankou, it was a wild and uncivilized planet. Even after she granted sapience to the creatures of Ankou, it was several hundred years before there were territories or kingdoms; all land was open to all. Several small civilizations were given names as their population grew, the largest of which was the Mother's City, founded in the very place her talons first touched Ankouvian soil.

The Age of Kingdoms

After the Gryphon Mother left her True form, the creatures of Ankou were left to provide for themselves. The slowly-growing civilizations expanded into full territories, and borders were established as leaders were chosen. Although the majority of kingdoms were amicable or at least neutral towards each other, there were a few instances of battles and hostility.

The Age of War

During the Age of War, the kingdoms were dissolved as the whole planet went to war, with the natural species against the magical species. Although the exact borders between natural, magical, and neutral territory changed often as the era progressed, this map provides a general overview of the land.

The Age of Harmony

Although the War had disbanded the majority of the previous era's kingdoms, many of the names remained; once the War was over, the borders were re-identified. During this age, however, they were mainly a formality, as a way of identifying location.
