Crystal

Crystals (note the capital C) are magical items that originated in the Crystal Caverns. They are created when a piece of mineral from the Caverns is imbued with magic, whether intentionally or not; the touch, or sometimes the mere presence, of a sufficiently-magical creature is often enough to power them. They then serve as a magic-source of their own, often granting any nearby creatures specific abilities. though the specifics can vary wildly.

Many of the most famous Crystals were created by the Gryphon Mother some time during the Beginning, as she was passing through the area. The hyper-reactive nature of the materials in the Caverns combined with the sheer intensity of the Mother's magical aura resulted in some of the most powerful objects in Ankouvian history.

The Frost Jewel

The Frost Jewel gives its user the ability to control ice and frost. It was passed down among the Thelaji royal family for generations before being destroyed at the end of the Siege of Lyndoreth. Its last user was Queen Nix.

The King's Crystal

The King's Crystal gives its user the ability to resurrect the dead. It was passed down through the royal family of Tayutho, last belonging to King Wyrrik. It was lost during the Age of War, but was rediscovered by Zeranta in y2857, and used to resurrect Kifo. After his resurrection, it was dropped into the Pit.
