Jiro

He is the father of Freckles, Puddle, Storm, Auva, and Zenith, and the ex-partner of Raine, Verathe, and Indi. He has some magical heritage, although it is not visible or usable.

Appearance

Jiro is a bit bigger and stockier than an average cat. His fur is dark brown, and he has yellow-orange tabby stripes down his spine. His tail, ears, and paws are darker brown, and his eyes and the interior of his ears are yellow-orange.

Personality

Jiro is playful and aloof. He is generally good-natured, but his outlook on life is that he's only here to have a good time, and so he is quick to drop creatures or situations that threaten his happiness. He never stays too long in one place, and rarely commits to anything.

History

Jiro was born on Winter 15, y2592. Although both his parents were the same species as him, his mother had magical heritage, and it was passed on to him. He grew up in Coleus, a small territory north of the Silverwood Forest. His parents cared for him, but Jiro felt little attachment to them, and spent a lot of his early years wandering. When he was a few years old, just old enough to not need them anymore, he set off west towards the Commonlands.

In y2597, while passing through the nation of Sayari, Jiro met Verathe, and the two became friends. They spent a lot of time playfully teasing each other, which eventually turned to flirting, and soon the pair became partners. Jiro lived with her for several seasons, but he eventually began to grow restless to keep wandering. Verathe, however, loved her homeland, and wanted Jiro to settle down there with her. Jiro, feeling like his life had only just begun, had no desire to throw away his freedom. Believing that there was no way for the two to find a compromise, Jiro broke off their relationship, taking off one morning without so much as a goodbye.

He traveled west to the Commonlands, making his way to the Mother's City. In y2600, he met Raine, and the two fell in love. One year later, Raine gave birth to their three kittens. One of them was born with feathered wings, a manifestation of the magic that Jiro had passed down to him. Raine was outraged by this, seeing it as a betrayal of trust that he had not told her about his magical heritage. When the kittens were still only a few days old, Raine took all three and vanished. Jiro never saw any of them again.

While he did wish he could have gotten the chance to have a real family with them, it did not take him long to get over this loss. He remained in the Commonlands for the next couple of years, making and losing friends, and just generally living a carefree, relaxed life. He had several brief flings, but no real partners. In y2614, he left the Commonlands, feeling stifled by its borders, and headed east once again. He spent a few years in Amuta, and then a few in Khairel.

In y2619, when he was twenty-seven years old, he became close friends with a gryff named Indi. Jiro found himself falling in love with her.

Relationships

Verathe

Verathe was Jiro's first partner, although their relationship was the shortest of his partners. They were each other's first love. While Jiro doesn't regret leaving her, knowing that there was no way they could work out their differences enough to remain partners, he does wish that he'd taken the time to give her a proper goodbye, and he often wonders if they could have made it work somehow.

Raine

Although he did truly care for Raine when they first became partners, they had already begun to grow apart by the time their children were born. Her snappishness and stubbornness did not mesh with Jiro's more relaxed, easy-going nature, and he found himself more irritated with her than not. In truth, he was relieved when she left, and he is content to never see her again.

Indi

Indi was Jiro's partner for the longest period of time, even though - despite his best efforts - the relationship didn't last either.

Freckles, Storm, & Puddle

The kittens were only a few days old when Raine left with them, and so Jiro did not get much time to interact with them, or even learn their names. He hasn't seen them since, although he does on occasion idly wonder what happened to them, particularly the winged one.
