Marduk

Marduk is a mountain dragon, living in a small tribe in the territory of Petraga during the Age of Harmony. He is the second son of Nevith and Akor, and the brother to Ladon, Iska, Eos, and Zu.

Appearance

Marduk is one of the physically largest dragons in the tribe. He has a broad head and a thick neck, and a long thin tail. His body is blue, and his horns, spikes, underbelly, eyes, and wing membranes are yellow; his scales were a vivid color as a hatchling, and have faded with age. As an adult, he has scarring on his nose bridge, upper jaw, left shoulder, and distal wing membrane, as well as a crooked jaw sustained in a fight injury, resulting in a slight underbite on his left side.

Personality

Marduk is brutish and stubborn. He takes his role in the tribe very seriously, and has little patience for what he deems to be frailty or frivolity. A classic bully, he is secretly deeply insecure and desperate to please those he considers to be of importance, especially his mother, and so puts on an act that is often outright cruel to those below him. He does his best to appear unfazed by anything that occurs around him.

History

Marduk hatched on Spring 12, y2263. He was the third of his siblings to do so, after Ladon and Iska; Eos and Zu hatched later on the same day. He was the largest and most physically developed of the nest, being nearly twice the size of the premature and wingless Ladon, and so cultivated an image of "the strong one" at a very young age. He grew quickly, developing friendly relationships with the other hatchlings of the tribe and with his sisters, and doing his best to please his stern mother Nevith. He felt little love for his father, taking his mother's opinion that Akor needed to toughen up, and was outright hostile to Ladon, who he felt was a freak of nature that should have been thrown from the mountain top as soon as he hatched. He often thought of killing his brother outright, in hopes that it would make his mother proud, but knew any attempt would be thwarted by Ladon's fiercely protective friend Hyacinth, who Marduk resented.
