Cavern Dragon

Cavern dragons are a subspecies of dragon. They are notable for having two distinct states of growth; after hatching, they spend several years in a flightless larval state, before pupating into adult winged form. Many cavern dragon civilizations eat their dead, as they consider death to be the third life stage, and just another form of transformation. The species is particularly hardy, and resistant to disease.
