He is responsible for starting the Birdcat Revolution, which dismantled the tribes and hierarchy of Zyadrin.

Appearance

Jai is a Tier Five birdcat gryphon, being a barn owl/tabby cat mix. The lower half of his body is orange-red with darker swirled tabby stripes, with a white tail tip and white paws. The upper half of his body is tawny-brown, with a lighter underbelly and face. His wings are brown, speckled with white. He has a heart-shaped face and a small beak, and dark gray eyes. His talons and beak are brown. He has two large scars running across his neck, a result of a fight with King-Zeta during the Birdcat Revolution.

Personality

Jai is quiet and alert, always paying attention to everything going on around him. He rarely speaks. Prior to the Revolution, he was considered the lowest of the low within his tribe, and he fully believed that to be true. As a result, even after the tribes were united and the hierarchy dismantled, he has trouble believing his own worth. He cares deeply about his few real friends, but prefers to be alone most of the time.

History

Jai hatched from his egg on Autumn 9, y1464. His mother was Tier Two, being an owl / cougar mix, and his father was Tier Four, a blue jay / common cat mix. This union was seen as taboo, as Zyadrin birdcats rarely had partners more than one tier away from their own. As a result of this parentage, Jai had the bird half of a Tier Two gryphon, and the cat half of a Tier Five. The tribe viewed this as an insult to the tribal system as a whole, and he was immediately placed in Tier Five, the lowest of the low; he was given a single-syllable name.

His reputation within the tribe did not improve as he grew up; his tribemates could not look beyond what they saw to be a shameful act of his parents. Jai spent his childhood quiet and alone, trying his hardest to stay out of everyone's way, fully believing that his existence was inherently wrong.

Relationships

Minasha

Minasha, along with Oska, is one of the only creatures that Jai considers to be a real friend. She was one of the first to treat him like he was more than his tier designation, and she encouraged him to not let it define him.

Oska

Oska is Jai's other close friend. Jai trusts him completely and entirely, and is the one who first suggested that Oska become leader of the united tribes.

King-Zeta

As Jai grew up in Zyadrin-Zeta, he was under the jurisdiction of King. When he was younger, he believed her to be the perfect pinnacle of what a birdcat gryphon should be. He truly believed the laws she upheld were just and fair. As he grew older, however, he began to see her as an archaic, stubborn figure, holding up an ancient and oppressive system, and his admiration turned to resentment.
